Every year at Corowa, amidst the many dozens of immaculate ex-Military Vehicles lovingly restored and displayed by their proud owners, can be seen at least one, if not more, of what we would call rare, unusual or unique vehicles. We define these as not just being notable in their appearance or presentation, but something seen only occasionally anywhere, not just at Corowa; in short, something worth having a much closer look at.
Accordingly, we at Corowa30 have decided to do just that, as an example of some of the most intriguing vehicles the Event has had the privilege to host. The vehicles seen on this page represent our own choices to fit this category and by no means diminish the importance or quality of some of the other vehicles which grace the Caravan Park every year. If you know of others which you feel may belong here, please contact us with your suggestions!

Hugh Thompson of Victoria has owned this unique F-30 Ford Blitz Ambulance for more than 40 years. Almost one-of-a-kind, this old girl saw service with the RAAF, and has remained in those colours since Hugh purchased it so long ago. It is complete inside and out, and is a pleasure both to inspect and to drive.

The Bandiana Army Museum in Vic has within its stables a large selection of rare and unique military vehicles, none more so than this immaculate Australian 2-pounder carrier. Unlike the Canadian iteration of an anti-tank carrier, which was just a modified standard Universal Carrier, this version was purpose-built for the anti-tank tasking and features some unusual design innovations.

Please click on the photo to the left for a close inspection of one of the rarest WW2 vehicles anywhere.

Andrew McIntosh, also of Vic, presents this unusual C-30 Blitz conversion. The story of this truck is that of an amazing 35-year, multi-stage transformation from its original military configuration to what you will see in this study; this one-time military workhorse is nothing less than a fascinating glimpse at just how flexible and adaptable the original Blitz design really was.
