| The heart of any multi-dimensional endeavour such as Project 30 is first and foremost, the people - the people it's about, the people it's for and the people who actually breathe life into it, giving it form, function and definition. | |
Here at Project 30 we have been fortunate on all counts; the wonderfully colourful collection of people which constitutes the subject of this work is, if anything, more eclectic than ever before and most of their number our are still with us. Their interests and perspectives vary as widely as the regions from which they travel to gather at Corowa every year, and they bring with them their own unique approaches to the preservation and display of historic military vehicles. |
|
| Those for whom this is written are in many cases one and the same, but in others, fresh, fascinated faces ready to breathe new life into an ever-evolving pastime. These latter are critical to the work we all do, for ultimately, the future of this hobby which has become so much a part of our lives will depend on them to carry forward. | |
| These two groups will be accented throughout this website and the book, for neither would exist without them. We can only thank them for their selfless dedication to preserving these artifacts over so many years. (those who have contributed directly to this venture will, if they so desire, be recognised by name in our Contributors section.) | |
| The third group of people upon which this endeavour has depended (and will continue to depend) is comprised of those with the knowledge, interest and skills to turn concept into reality; and it is here we wish to recognise these few that but for their drive and dilligence Project 30 would still be nought but the germ of an idea. | |

| Geoff Winnington-Ball & Maple Leaf Up Canadian by birth and residence, Geoff has only attended one Corowa show personally (2007), but has known many of the individuals involved with Corowa for some time now. He has over thirty years of experience and a unique perspective of the military and its history as well as the techno-historical complexities of its preservation. A one-time serving officer in Her Majesty's Canadian Armed Forces, Geoff's knowledge of Commonwealth military history & tradition and of its tools & their employment is almost encyclopaedic. |
|
For nine years now Geoff (aka 'Jif') has operated what many consider to be one of the premier military-historical sites on the internet, Maple Leaf Up. Known universally throughout the historical military and collecting world as "MLU", this site includes a popular and well-regulated discussion Forum which attracts dedicated enthusiasts from all over the world, including large contingents from Australia and New Zealand. It is here they gather daily to discuss news of the day from their various spheres and trade useful information and perspective on the restoration and preservation of what are in some cases priceless vehicles. |

| What Geoff brings to Project 30 is proven expertise in the layout and design of functional and appealing internet websites as well as matchless organisational & editing skills, both of which he employs here in his capacity as Project 30 Webmaster and general advisor. In addition, not only is 'Jif' hosting our site for us, he will also be dedicating a small subsection of the MLU Forum to Project 30 for the purposes of the quick dissemination of news and progress to the ex-military vehicle community-at-large and discussion of the Project as a whole. | |

Keith Webb & Image ControlA resident of Melbourne, Keith Webb is truly a fixture within the Australian ex-military vehicle community, owning & restoring Blitz's and participating in various events including Corowa for more than thirty years. Well-respected and widely sought out throughout the ex-military vehicle community for his technical advice and perspective, Keith also has a keen grasp of all elements of Australian military history, much of which he has documented in photographs on his own long-established historical military website, OldCMP. This includes extensive sections covering Commonwealth aircraft and the men who flew them, giving Keith a truly balanced historical perspective on World War II as Australians knew it. |
|
Founded in 1982 by Keith and his brother, Image Control is a recognised audio/video production company headquartered in Melbourne, with business which has taken it all over the world. Since the late eighties, the company has been involved in a broad range of production work including broadcast documentaries, television commercials and corporate presentations including company profiles, training programs, electronic press kits and websites. Himself a professional photographer and filmmaker, Keith has adapted his uniquely specialised art to bring extensive still and video coverage into the world of ex-military vehicles. Since Corowa invoked its now-standard practice of having each annual show centred around a 'theme' vehicle type (see our Corowa History section for more details), Keith has produced enormously entertaining videos and DVDs about each successive show, featuring not only the vehicles themselves but the people who have lovingly restored them and in some cases, brought them great distances faithfully each year to take part in the event. |
|
What Keith brings to Project 30 is his unique dedication to the hobby coupled with practiced skill in using the camera, both still and video, to capture the essence of Corowa for all to see; indeed, many of the photographs you will enjoy on this website and in the coming printed publication are his work. He is also responsible for organising and presenting his and others' Corowa photography in the format you see it on this site (through our Event Photos link). Furthermore, Keith's involvement in Project 30 extends to supplementing the resources Jan has at-hand for her research; for that he has undertaken to capture a detailed selection of video interviews from past and present participants, as necessary and/or desireable. Working closely with Jif and Jan, Keith will help ensure Project 30's success, here on the web and in printed publication. |
